I found the Mod Podge here - http://www.craftonline.com.au/shoppi...ts.asp?id=3940
I'm guessing some kind of sealant over the top should work as well.
you laser printer would easily do wazkelly's suggestion, method has been used by others here to transfer print onto timber that worked well.
however if the markers look a bit grubby and used/abused they should fit in fine with the theme
So late yesterday I glued the neck on. Was pleased to say the alignment was spot of from the factory. Today I put the tuners on and some flat clear. I also mixed up some blue glow powder and PVA to fill the side markers, seeing I had a bit left over I watered it down and painted inside the trem cavity with it when put a light black wash over it. Result is that it faintly glows blue around the trem and the side markers are very bright. So...Monday or Tuesday I'll get onto mounting the trem and wiring. :)

Oh Deddy, absolutely killing it (no pun intended) with this build. Your dark creative take on the GD is wicked!!
Very good FW. This guitar really is the part and well done. Looking forward to the hardware

nice work and those fret markers look fine
Thanks Stan, I think while there was some good suggestions offered, any more "glooming" might have sent it overboard into the tacky/cartoony/Halloween horror realm, something I try to avoid. I may use the idea of images in fretboard inlays on something else in the future however.
Looking great. I really love the cracks in the body and the headstock inset is perfect. Really looking forward to seeing this bad boy all strung up.
cheers,
Gav.
Looking great Dedman. The photo makes the body look asymmetrical, I assume that is just the angle it was taken at.
Seriously Dedman, the creativity is amazing. When micro-me (currently 6) decides to Goth out in a few years time this build will be the template.
looking awesome Dedman, really looks aged and as though it has been buried at some stage !
You have nailed the theme
Looks killer
soooo, I went to wire this up today. Not having much luck. Front pick up is fine, and it splits just fine, if I go to the both or back pick up on the switch I seem to get both although faintly.
I'm using this diagram
Attachment 11633
my switch has 4 terminals but as Weirdy suggested I ran the volume wire through both middle terminals.
the only other thing I've done was I wasn't sure about what the diagram was indicating so I ran 2 wires like so for want of a better way to join them
Attachment 11634
and I've double checked the jack wiring.
Hey Dedman, maybe if you can please post a photo of the control cavity ?
Maybe try removing the 2nd wire that you have drawn in red. Have you copper shielded the control cavity ?
Sounds like the bridge pup is getting earthed somewhere, double check the lugs aren't making contact with the copper shielding (if you have shielded it). Also make sure everything is earthed correctly
I've packed up for the night, so I'll have another go tomorrow Wokka, will get pics if I'm still having issues. at this point the pots and switch are outside the cavity still and yea, shielded everything
no worries Dedman, it sometimes helps to look at it fresh tomorrow
I've not used push pulls before so I presumed I can earth to the top of the pots?
yes that is correct Dedman, earth to the top. Some even have a small lug (without a hole) to earth to
Sounds like something is partially shorting between the pups in the bridge and middle positions. Post some pics of the wiring when you get a chance and we'll see what we can see.
good news, if you look in the bottom left hand corner of the wiring diagram you will see what I was missing..........."Earth all grounds to the Vol pot." I had some earthed to the tone pot, as soon as I ran a bridging wire everything worked fine :)
Onto mounting the bridge and stringing her up!
And it's done. Rose trems are a pain in the butt!
It's just strung with the Chinese strings while the neck settles in and I get the intonation fully sussed but it's working :)

looks cool as Dedman, did you sort out the wiring of the bridge pickup what was the issue ?
EDIT just read on your post above it was earthing issues as I suspected
the side markers in the dark

I must say I'm impressed with the Entwhistle Darkstar pickups, with the splits it has a wide range of sounds, running through some presets on my little Vox amp it sounds every bit as good as my Korean Gretch and is surprisingly comfortable to play. Going to have a day or 3 away from the work shop, will get back to setting it up properly toward the weekend. But colour me happy yet again :D
good stuff Dedman, I put some dark stars in an Explorer build and they are bang for your buck pipckup indeed
I did some "literal" fine tuning on this today. Took the Chinese strings off and put on a set of DR Black Beauty's and reset the trem as it was sitting way too high. I had the problem that when I screwed it in tighter the springs would pop out. I cut the retaining slots a little deeper and bent the tips of the springs a bit more and the problem was solved. I set up the intonation as best I could with the new strings, will give them a couple of days to settle and give it anther go, then lock them down. I also remembered to put the strap buttons on, it is a little neck biased but as I usually sit to play it's not going to worry me.
So I can call this defiantly finished. :)
sounds good Dedman, would love to hear/see a sound demo but I know you don't have a recording device in the house !

Also keen to hear once it's played in how well the tremelo keeps tune
I shortened the trem arm by about 75mm as well, I can actually keep it in the back of my hand while playing now
yeah Dedman the trem arm looks like it would reach past the top of the neck pup. Almost needed a new postcode number !
This is awesome man! I flipping love it!!
Awesome deddy, best version of this guitar I have seen, nice
thanks gents :)
Yeah, you've really nailed the theme on this one. She's a beaut.
Really awesome job man, she's come out amazing! I have to second the Darkstars, they really are great pickups. Would love to get a sound demo if you have the possibility.
cheers,
Gav.
I have to say that this guitar looks uber-cool, I love the Gothic theme you went with Dedman.
