Timber mate or dark stain colours tend to show up some of those things that can be easily missed to tge naked eye.

Nice soldering mate! Better than mine :)
Cheers Kick....
I'm an Instrument Tech / Sparky by trade and have done a lot of soldering over the years.....
Cut my teeth with an iron and solder doing heaps of Dick Smith kits as a young fella lol
The electronics bit of this job *should* be straight forward enough.... It's the exterior finish that's going to test me I think :)

Had a busy couple of weeks l, with only a few opportunities to get any progress, but tonight I ticked off a few milestones...
First coats of Tru Oil went on the body...
And I masked up the fretboard and got a coat of Tru Oil on the neck.
I have to say I'm astounded how much the body transformed as the TO went on....
Here's the pics....
There is quite a bit of variation in the timber, so much so, that I sorta resigned myself to the fact that no matter how much I sanded, some areas were going to be different... So I'm embracing that and aiming a little lower and going for a more rustic end result.. :)https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...ed3985992c.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...1a85de526f.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...1f3823c3ce.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...cb1de2e9a9.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...9ae678c533.jpg

I think that grain is looking great!
Hey Overlander nice grain, I think the darker and lighter parts won't be so obvious with more coats of tru oil so box on. Make sure you allow at least 2-3 days curing between coats being in Tazzy
Cheers Wok' I think it's mellowed a bit even with the second coat this evening.... Pics can be deceiving depending on light, but these ones from tonight do look a fraction darker and maybe more even????
Yeah the weather and temps will be a challenge... Have had a few nice days s yesterday and today, so went for the second coat...
Make hay while the sun shines so to speak, but I need to keep my enthusiasm under control!! Lol
Noted a few blemishes tonight that are a bit disappointing.. glue line on bottom horn and another glue spot on the front above the bridge.
Bugger!!https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...b62360dcbc.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...68550791e2.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...5622c15aa9.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...bc00adab3d.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...02921d48de.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...ff177bfdfb.jpg
