Nice Simon, I will check them out.......and have a go!
So big a learning curve this guitar building, soldered everything up this afternoon, tried to plug it into the amp before screwing the pick ups etc in properly to test it, neck pick up worked fine tapping with a screwdriver, could not get the bridge pick up working at all. turned it over and checked and checked the wiring, could not work it out.... then it hit me...... the 3 way switch.... dohhhhhhh, what a wally!!
Lesson learnt now, put damn brain in gear first....
Probably time you put some strings on it before you realise that strumming doesn't make any noise either. ;)
Haha... the good news is your advice on the pick up wiring was correct.... I might put the 2 e strings on later to line up the pick ups...
Done almost, neck is dead straight now, no adjustment needed, the strings under tension sorted it, however it will definitely need the frets doing..a first for me... 2 of the pot threads stick through the body too far so the knobs don't sit down on them as far as I would like, noticed when I was putting it together in the cavity 2 were countersunk 2 were not.... the neck tone pot hasn't much change from 0 -10 so might need look into that also
Looks great. Just fit some washers on the pot shafts before re-fiitting the pots. I know it's 3/8" for full-size CTS pots, though the kit pots might be a very slightly smaller metric size.
I'll be in the fitters store on Monday at work..... a spare pot will accompany me to ensure the right size...
Looking very nice!
Nice shade of blue.
Damn... forgot about this thread, was "finished" ages ago, when time allows it does need properly setting up, but all works
