Now it's hard to see in this light but the clear neck stain is giving a lovely subtle tinting to the maple. I'm liking this. And my workshop smells citrus as opposed to noxious! Which is nice.

Cheers everyone for comments. I got the first coat of Wudtone on this evening. So far so good.. Once this has cured I'll rub some silver highlights into the grain.
The neck finish is curing slowly but steadily. A bit humid at the moment but no rush..
I have some Wudtone white base coat left over from this, already another build plan in my head. I have GAS fer sure..
Anyhow some piccies

Looking good Mr Osbourne! I imagine the green Wudtone has absorbed into the more porous parts of the grain in the body. I'm interested to see how the silver bonds... whether it has finer particles to get into the denser parts of the timber?

Cheers Swanny. Here's another picture following morning in the light. I reckon one more coat of Wudtone, then silver highlights. The initial Wudtone coat is going deep into the grain. Theory is this along with the silver it will highlight the grain, then a few more coats of Wudtone to cover the lighter non grain timber. I've deliberately left the grain unfilled to see if this will happen....

looks great Ponch, brings back memories I did a couple of surfer green builds. I've done one with silver highlights before and it looks excellent.
Even better work keeping that avatar mate !

Yes the avatar a classic I'll keep it for a bit! We're your previous builds in a diary thread?
And here is coat two..

Hey Ponch, glad you are keeping the Dockers avatar a bit longer !
The 2 builds in surfer girl I've attached a pic of each. ST-1 there will be a build diary but probably early to mid 2013.
The other was an early scratch pine body, which I look at now and think wow. I've cut the left hip way to narrow but it's different.
I went for a more solid stain but think you can show off much more grain in the ash

Hey Woks, they look pretty good to me. I'll have a search for the diary. I reckon the scratchie shape has quite a bit of potential. How does it sound with the pine body? also like the stained headstock face.
