Hang in there rockmof as it sounds like it might turn out ok after all. If more coats is getting closer to what you are chasing keep going even if that requires more stain as I have just emptied all my CG stain trying to get there and it looks just about right. Once you start applying the intensifier it also adds more depth.

Well after all that, it looked a lot better when it was jus done, not to worry though.
will give it a going over with the steel wool, and as many coats as I can. Then see what the intensifier can do to help.
Another coat, looks like about Tuesday and only hope it keeps getting better.
Will need to do a bit on the sides though.
Rick.

Really digging the color
Cant wait to see the finished product.

Rockmof starting to get some real colour into it. Agrre another coat or two and the intensifier will just boost it.
Looking good.

getting better each time Rick, hang in there and you should get the colour you are after !

Not real happy, the other day I gave it a good sanding back. Gave it another coat of stain but it just isn't working out, Reasonabally happy with the front, but the back and sides are not.
Always seem to have trouble with this sort of stuff, the stain just won't take to the basswood. Am thinking of doing the front and try something else with the back and sides.
Will need to stay with the "blue", but as yet just not sure what.
Been trying to load some pix for the last hour, don't know what is up but will post them later if I can find out why they aren't going.
-
that's no good Rick, your pics need to be below 1MB and smaller than 1500 x 1500 resolution.
Maybe black edge/back may work with the blue front
-
Maybe Colourtone Blue or have a crack at it with the Officeworks Inkpad Ink. May need to sand back a fair bit as not sure if it would penetrate through existing layers of DT. Woks suggestion of Darker contrast is a good idea too.

WooHoo! finally, after all this time I got to resize the photos, lost one in the process, but hey. I think I'm fairly smart.
Figured out, what a kid could do in 2 minutes, in about 4 hours.
I thought about the back and sides black, but not to sure I'd like it too much.
The ink umm, I have read about ink being used but again not sure how it would work for me.
However I will figure something out.
Tomorrow, I will work on the back and sides, give them another stain coat, although I am not to hopeful of the results.
I'm sure I will work something out though.

Hi Rockmof, below is a rough cut & paste of an example of Color Tone Blue Stain and maybe more like what you were aiming for perhaps?
