Ok so today I've chucked another couple of coats of the blue stain on, looking bluer (is that a word?)
And also made a start on the headstock (neck is prepped up to1200 grit)
Here's the progress...

colour looking better Shoey, keep at it. I love the headstock logo, should come up a treat after clear coats
-
Very nice. Loving that logo.

I think I'm happy 5 coats in. Still not as brilliant as I'd like but it's ok for my first crack.

hey Shoey, I've noticed with ash bodies its harder to achieve the colour stain you want being a darker grain timber. I'd try for a couple more coats. Rub fine steel wool between coats.
Is that your foot in the photo with those slippers ?
-
Lol photo bombed by Mrs S's foot. I'll give it another couple of coats tomorrow. Do I need that 0000 grade steel wool?
-
Hey Shoey,
yes super fine 0000 grade steel wool. Give it a light rub between coats. Its worth perservering with another 2 or 3 coats of stain
-
Sounds good. I'll grab some in the morning and put another coat on.

Thanks so much Wok. The colour has come up soooo much better. I'll leave it till tomorrow and put one last coat on.
