Brendan - I'm so glad I did do it! Looks soooooo much better now. Absolutely awesome bit of advice.
Yeah, I know Adam and DB are sticklers for quality, but of course, even the strictest quality control doesn't catch everything! But it was an easy fix, so I'm not fussed :)
I went out and bought the ink and applied it about an hour ago and oh man does it look good. Take a look for yourself but I am so incredibly stoked with the stain.

Well done! That looks amazing. The effort looks to have been well worth it.

Thanks Gav!
Absolutely worth the effort. So incredibly stoked with it.
I'm now tossing up whether to do another coat or not... thinking probably not as it looks awesome as is... but I would be interested to hear if someone else has ever done this before and applied more.
Also debating whether to paint something onto it in the corner... I have an idea in mind... but not sure if it'll spoil it

I reckon leave as is. You already had a good base from the knock-off Colortone stain, I don't think it needs any more, to be honest. But, as all builds are personal, the final call should be made by you.
What's your idea for the painting? Sounds intriguing. :)

Yeah, I'm thinking I might be better off leaving it. It already looks good, and I don't think I could get it any better. Any more stain will probably just make it look worse.
Well, my last guitar I built (still am finishing) was like a tribute to one of my favourite bands, La Dispute. I engraved the neck plate, added a decopaged sticker and a custom decal that all related to the band in some way.
So after how well that turned out, I'm debating whether or not to dedicate this one to my FAVOURITE band, Basement.
Their symbol is a capital B, which I would do in black. I'd also engrave the neck plate as either the same thing or one of their other symbols. I'd then name the guitar something that relates to them... maybe a song name?
But again, I'm not sure... I'm thinking that I might just make this build a personal custom instead of some sort of tribute... But again.... not sure haha

Leave it at the one coat of ink!
-
Ah! You're the Rust-Oleum Mike!
I ended up using that on my Mockingbird build, because of how well you did that one. ;)
My advice would be let your imagination run wild, man. Let your gut guide you as to what you really want this guitar to mean. Whether it be a tribute, or something special to reflect you, if you really sit back and think about it, you'll know what you want it to be. :)

Damn! That colour is fantastic! A real deep royal blue, I'm a little jealous. Really like how this is going.
-
Oh, and when I tried to put a second coat of the ink on I found it fairly pointless. The colour just evened itself out when it dried and looked no different to what it was before.

looks fantastic Mike, think I'm going to have to try a blue ink stain
