#Gav - sure hoping it turns out ok. Will be building this along the latest addition below.
Check out the grain on this one - thanks Adam.
Looking back, it was July when I last posted. Back then it was sanding and more sanding before the kit was boxed.
This week I have been busy sanding again and again trying to remove that darn glue. I even brushed the c&$p out of it with the brass and sanded some more, thought I had it sorted. I think the 2nd coat of stain got it.
Anyways, here is where I am up too. 2 coats of stain and it waits for a couple of clear lacquer coats to protect it (Friday). Then work begins on the neck and top.
Does anyone have a couple of inches of stock PBG cream binding they could send me, I seem to have shaved a bit too much off the lower fretboard neck/body area and now I have a gap that I want to try an fill?
good to see this on the go again mate
Thanks Stan
Question to the masses - is it worth filling a few small spots with sawdust and glue just behind the binding on the maple cap to smooth it out? Is this just going to create to much of a mess?
Well here is the first coat of stain.
too dark for my first coat, this might make a nice transition colour to the outer dark burst. At least it has highlighted the tiger stripes.
Thoughts?
Looks gorgeous mate. Looks like a mean flame on that veneer.
Looks amazing Kane! I would be stoked with the way those flames have been highlighted. What are you staining with?? Awesome job man.
cheers,
Gav.
