Zandit's First Build Thread

C'mon Guys, this is getting ridiculous, why does my build thread always get knocked to the second page??!!

GIVE ME ATTENTION DAMMIT!!!! #needy...... :rolleyes:

Lmao!! OK, on a more serious note, the clear varnish is hardening up nicely, so I think a second coat can go on in the next couple of days, maybe even tomorrow night.
Photos are a little glarey, the best light is in the Kitchen, but everything is white, so it over does the photos.

The grain has taken on a bit of a crazed effect for some reason. It looks like the grain is sticking up to the naked eye, but it is really smooth. It may flatten out more with additional clear coats.

And just for the added comments it always gets, here's the top again!! This has had two coats of DT clear top coat so far.

thats about the same look as the back of my LP, I'm quite happy with that look.

This is going to look epic when its in one piece. How are you handling the waiting Zandit?

Haha, I'm not really!! I honestly can't see how people can put together a guitar in just a couple of weeks!

Hopefully I will be able to apply a second coat tonight. I want to pick up some foam brushes because the varnish does not go on very well with the rag method. It's a much thicker consistency than the stains.
I'll apply another top coat to the top as well after giving it a very light steel wool rub down.

Well it is worth taking the time, the effect so far is stunning so we shall all have to take a chill pill until it is the appropriate time!

Yes large part of this amateur luthiery hobby seems to be watching paint/stain dry....... it probably will be a nasty shock when you actually have to plug it in! (Especially if your wiring is dodgy)
