yes that one too, but i have never used one...

Yep, chainsaws do have a nasty kickback in them when they hit something really hard which can scare the #$!% out of you.
Routers don't worry me any more, I've transferred my hatred to circular saws :-(
A few years back just after I got my first guitar I almost cut my left thumb off. Laying in casualty thinking the worst I focused on Django Reinhardt and my comeback.

Routers for me as far as ruining the work goes, circular saws for losing digits. I have managed twice now to cut through my circular saw cable while doing various jobs around the house, thank god for safety switches. At least now the cable is short enough it doesn't get in the way 👍
Some jigsaw and fake Dremel practice:

Nice! Headstocks often work better when attached to a neck.
As suspected, the neck pocket is a little lop sided:

The neck is also about 1mm bigger on the same side.
They're all ganging up on you! At least you now know and can do something about it.
I sanded down the high area, but the "wood" in that area doesn't sound right, sounds like tapping on balsa wood (see video).
Just a guess on my part, but I reckon when the holes were being drilled, they had an accident and patched this section up (hence no hole going all the way through), with what I do not know.

In the same area, there is a greenish patch, could it be some kind of bog? Probably not the greatest place to have a soft spot.

Hmm, interesting! Worth a bit more investigation. Is there a hole on the back?
I wonder if it would make much difference either way, as long as the neck joint is nice and flat as tight.
True, although I'd say that as long as the neck is screwed tightly to the body you are fine and the sound won't change.
Is it soft on the outside?
Is there any sort of a hairline fracture in the end grain there? It sounds like a separated section or a perhaps a partially filled void (hairline) under that little brown/green section?
Maybe wick some thin CA glue into it along that dark brown line and see if that makes a difference?
Possibly a growth inclusion from the trees earlier lifeor something then? Go easy on the CA glue at first and see how it spreads/wicks before you get too heavy handed with it (he says sagely, like he’s never glued his glove to a guitar and had to sand it off).
When I push on it with my nail, I can see it flex, like it is hollow underneath.
I think Franken's idea makes sense. Although I'd probably want to do some digging to get rid of the soft area and then fill it to make sure the area is sound if it feels hollow.
It's more likely to be a small flaw in the wood itself, but worth addressing.
Are the neck plate holes, and neck, drilled differently to all other Telecasters and clones?
Good question. I have never checked other than to ensure they line up in the right places and not too close to edges. If they don't look right you could plug with a dowell and re-drill.
Thanks Waz. I got dowels and wood glue today. Also, pickups and other bits, from the UK, were in the letter box when we got home.

Gotta love a parcel!
Interesting looking package of goodies and wondering who made the pups?

They're Vanson's, Waz. I bought some humbuckers of theirs, a while back, and they were great (priced right too), so I thought I would try the Telecaster types. https://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-Vanson-...72.m2749.l2649
Ready to drill out wonky holes, and wouldn't you know it, chuck key gone walkabout

Found the chuck key, and enlarged the holes to 6mm.

6mm dowels glued and hammered in to position.

I used a hacksaw to cut most of the dowel stubs off.

The renovator type tool made quick, but smoky, work of the two that were hard to reach with the hacksaw.

I Can't recommend these enough for that fiddly type of flush or near flush cut..

Edit: How did you go with the soft spot?
Nice job! Good fix.
Looks like you are well on the way to sorting this problem body out, well done.
Got a little more done today.
My drill press isn't big enough to reach the string through points, so this was my solution:

A little wonky on the back, but I can live with that:
