No worries Adam, fairly relevant stuff to consider for any build, not just set necks.

Brushed on a full strength coat of TO all over tonight and was happy with how things looked whilst still wet which has encouraged me to continue with chosen colour scheme.
You're teasing us on the colour scheme
What ever its is it's towards the red end of the spectrum I think. In BW photography blue reads as white, red as black depending on shade.
Hi Sonic, just for laughs I have taken some photos of various coloured cars at work today and may create a fresh post to test this theory. In the meantime, happy for anyone to guess what colour this car is?

Dark bluey
Black and black......
red and green
Shades of grey.
some shade of blue
It's the same car - he's just used two different greyscale filters on the same picture. So pick one colour.
To be honest its only a general rule of thumb. There are a lot of factors that figure into it. I'm also not sure how modern digital cameras handle it specifically. But when I did photography back in the dark(Room) ages, the silver halide crystals on the celluloid definitely clumped more for shades of blue than shades of red.
Colour theory is pretty interesting subject, the difference between additive and subtractive process's comes up a lot in my day job as people don't seem understand that things look different on a computer screen to printed - RGB being additive and CMYK being subtractive... further complicated by us using CMYK to proof with as its closer to how the print will look but generally duller looking on screen.
On the face of it I'd say that car is red, but I also suspect you may have chosen a dark blue metallic colour to make it more difficult to tell :)
I hear ya Sonic, I always have trouble finding a printer who can print my 3D renders faithfully
Simon is on the money....same car with greyscale done on my Samsung phone and also via Irfanview..
How many guessed correct car colour?

Now back to the main program......shots taken last Sunday after 4th coat of TO had been ragged on.

Almost dark bluey... ;)
The guitar is plainly a ihavenoidea top with a luckyguess back.
Actually I'm going with red top and deep brown back and sides.
Interesting suggestion that might look ok.

Colour reveal not too far away.
I can say that it is not any of the following colours...
- Pink
- Natural
- Yellow
- Green
- Blue
It’s black isn’t it?
Is it, in fact, black? And you've just been stringing us along for the last month with the black and white photos?
Hmmm, not Black either which doesn't leave too many others to pick from.
Just checking we've elimated the obvious. :)
Not purple either which only leaves a couple of possibilities.

These shots show some of the initial colour scheme thought processes that I was mulling over whilst wondering if the top could be saved to take a stain....
So it's red then.
Will try and take some good shots tomorrow and post them if the colour looks right. We all know how different lighting can make things look totally different to reality.
Is it red?
;)
Is it Mission Brown?
ROFL.....definitely not Mission Brown.

Bit washed out in the bright sunlight and brought my Red J Bass out to serve as a comparison of the 2 colours. The ES1 is darker on top, similar on sides with maybe a slight hint of more cherry on the back.

The front in above filtered light shot looks very close to actual colour in the flesh.

Above was taken whilst still wet after a 1500 grit wet sanding application of TO.
Very nice! That was an interesting thread.
Any longer and we would have to be medicated, way too much stress, hanging on, will it be today???
Beautiful colour Waz, is that the pen ink mix?
