looking good Nitro, so how does the tremelo work without any cavities ? I presume it pivots on the screws
Mate you're welcome to come.
Not long before I start a new thread "how did you build your work bench"

Well the hardest bit is done. Bridge pins drilled and cavity for the jaguar tremelo setup finished. Amazingly the neck is straight and the strings fit on straight so all is good!!

Now waiting for a blank pickguard so i can customise it, the original one doesnt fit with the new top control panel.
Yowsa! Nicely done!

looking good Nitro. You could have bought the kit like the JMZ that Chuck is building think it's the same config as you have modded.
You mean the JZA-1? Only problem was it wasnt available when i ordered mine, the JM-1 was the closest to what i could get at the time.
Anyway i really wanted to do all this myself. For me its all about the journey and the learning curve and at the end i have the satisfaction of saying i did all the work myself even if i might of screwed it up...lol
While waiting for the new pickguard blank i decided to do a little work on the headstock. I sharpened the under curve so it would emulate the Jag a bit more.

Next a tape up and a few coats of primer filler.
Then the worse thing in the world happened, MY DREMMEL DIED!
After frantically reading the warantee and searching for the receipt i trotted off to the Big Green Shed, praying they would honor the warantee.
The young girl that served me said yes it was covered, i had one month to go on a 12 month warantee but it would have to be repaired, which i was dreading.
So i kindly pointed out the Australian exclusion on the warantee which said, " All australian customers are entitled to a refund or exchange in case of sudden product failure!"
She said....You cant argue with that and promptly gave me a new Dremel, Yay!
Moral of the story...... always read the fine print!
Next i decided to attack the roller volume pots to the top crome switch panel.... next problem, they didnt fit...gggrrr.
Neither the pot holes, screw holes or roller volume switch cutouts matched.

So out with the new dremel, attached the metal cutting disk, and with the help of a set of needle files, 2 of which i broke, i enlarged and elongated the slots, and all disaster was averted, whew.

Time to do the pickguard, it has arrived. Used one half for trial, so easy to botch up using wrong tools. When i got the hang of it i used some measurements from the supplied one then modified the rest. First pic shows how the original pick doesnt fit.

Second pic shows the first trial pick, the final one has a sticker on

More routing, setting in lower switch panel, another sand and reprime, then final assembly to check neck, trem and string alignment. All is good. Ready for wiring and final 3 different paint coats.

I even remembered a tip from a fellow guitar builder.... use plastic hose to hold the bridge in place before fitting.

Looking awesome nitro - I love how you've tackled the various challenges along the way.
Great looking build.
I suggest putting some clear gloss or even clear nail polish on the switch panel edges that you had to modify, once you break the chrome surface rust will appear in no time and get under the edges and bubble up. Speaking from experience in other fields. (Mind you I do like close to the ocean). Love the build!
awesome work Nitro, love the mods you have done and it's been well documented !
Finally caught up on this build and love your work Nitro.
How does it sound with those super hot PUP's?
Know what you mean as I have a couple of previous builds that have developed minor wiring gremlins that need some attention when i can find the time.
Yea thats it, ive got my SG-2 that desperately needs some nut refining, but it all seems too much of a bother and to find the time to take it to pieces to fix it but i know i must, sigh.
Update...loosened up the strings on my SG-2 tonight and removed the nut to give it some work...haha, talk about the power of suggestion.
Good to hear you were sufficiently motivated. I have too many other things on the go preventing me from getting around to doing anything on those prior builds. Maybe later in the month could be something to aim for.
Wiring diagram completed at last. I think I've got it right, might need an expert to give it a once over.
A slightly modified version of the standard one. Instead of a strangle switch ive used it for an on/ off switch for the humbucker.
The lower 3 switches have been wired as 1) master volume 2) treble cut tone 3) bass cut tone. These are generally referred to as G&L Style PTB Tone Stacks.
Everything else is standard Jaguar wiring.

Soo.... if someones got some spare time could they check my wiring scheme for errors? Cheers
