Definately.
Hey gents, I will consider your subtle hints. Might organise something this year . . .
Meanwhile a smidge of progress - prototype backplate done & recessed in.
That looks great Max. But, I have to say it.......Carolyn Jones>Anjelica Houston. By a country mile.
oh yes, Carolyn for sure - the true Morticia.

Back plate does look awesome though Maxxy
Mmmm Carolyn Jones.
cheers,
Gav.
Much as I like Carolyn, Anjelica features in my Addams Family pinball and room decor . . .
Here is her body (albeit a bit cold) after just one pass with the scheppach using coarse grain.
Man, I wish I'd bought one these bobbin sanders long ago.
P.S. The cut down pearloid bit is simply to reatain the PUPs in place. The whole lot will be concealed by an engraved black/silver cover further down the road.
Slowly progressing, too many distractions ATM.
Cut mock-up selector switchplate & positioned knobs.
Cut a rear control plate and roughly routed its recess.
Did a test piece on basswood for proposed crackle finish - Great Scot Marty, it works!!
This should require far less sanding as it disguises flaws nicely (goodbye drudgery)
Speechless.
Wow Max..... You ever running out of ideas? My bets are going for a big fat no...
just great Max!
Love the cracked black finish max. This thing is going to be epic! Also the switch plate is really nice. Such amazing designs in every aspect of your builds.
cheers,
Gav.
Thanks guys
Body has now acquired its pyramidal spikes, everything smoothed down & ready to prime, then apply the crackle effect.
Probably changing plans for the headstock design - might stay close to the original sv-1 shape after all . . . and crackle it too.
Genius Max!
cheers,
Gav.
Like the spikes great job Max gets better each time.
Loving the spikes Max! Should be sweet with the crackle finish!
Max, your designs always leave me wondering, "how did he come up with that"? Your attention to detail is amazing.
Cheers
rob
The cracked black finish demo is awesome.
You are all too kind . . .
OK, after some humming & hahhing I went for a 'stock shape which I reckon is more in keeping with the body style.
Ya can see a couple of little bits added to exaggerate the "points" otherwise simply shaped curves out of the original.
God I love my new Scheppach spindle sander . . .
Someone else on here did a 'stock very much like this - no harm in a little plagiarism says I.
Cant wait to see this painted. Love the shape. Even without the theme this shape rocks.
lookin' mean Maxxy
Headstock looks familiar :)
Maxie, if anyone else tried to pull this design off it would fail... Buggered if I know how you get away with these crazy shapes! :)
great work Maxxy!
Looks gnarly.....(sorry, couldn't resist using a surfie phrase)....can't wait to see what the guitar looks like when it's finished, should look really cool.
I just love the whole shape Max, and the headstock finishes it off nicely. Can't wait to see the crackle black on this bad boy!
cheers,
Gav.
Finished the neck/headstock after a lot of interruptions.
The neck & sides are plain satin black for playing smoothness.
The cracks are actually a light cream colour - damn cameras.
The rest of the fit & finish will follow pretty soon I hope . . .
That is looking pretty slick, can't wait to see the whole thing.
nice crackle Max! I've had paint do that - but i didnt mean it....
Hello fellow enthusiasts & the awesome PB Team.
After a VERY long hiatus, I've sorta started building again . . .
Finished this weird baby after all sorts of interruptions & setbacks.
Her finish morphed a lot due to complications . . .
Anyway, here we are for better or worse.
Max
Utterly gobsmacked. Fantastic work Max!
MAX YOU ARE ALIVE !! Welcome back mate it's been ages since we heard from you, hope you are doing well.
Axe looks cool as, you nailed the theme, where did you get the 'thing' hand guitar holder from ? probably ebay I spose.
What is the significance of the red top on the top E tuner ? Others are green
A continuation of the long stemmed rose motif I suspect Wokka? Just like the graphic and the Trem arm.
ah yes Frankie sure you are correct, well spotted mate
OMFG! Hey, Max! Long time no see. Back with another epic build, really good to see.
Welcome back Max, long time no see! I was only looking at your pinball axe the other night and thought that maybe you had found a cure for GAS hence the absence
Morticia looks great
Bravo I say !
Hey Dedman you probably joined the forum after Max last posted. You and Max would be like 2 peas in a pod. Max built the pinball CBG axe, I got to see it in the flesh at PBG 2nd birthday party
Maxxy!!!!!!!!!
welcome back dude, awesome build too
that pinball is mind boggling, Morticia is a winner too
yes Dedman I reckon you and Maxxy were brothers separated at birth !
