Now that is a nice blue, definitely worth the extra coats.
sweet Shoey, thats pretty well paint colour now, that will look slick as cleared and bolted up
That blue compliments the figure beautifully, well done:-)
that turned out really well, a very nice blue
Great colour.
Amazing colour shoey! Another blue dye triumph!
cheers,
Gav.
Thanks guys.
Now to slide parts in under the boss' nose without getting caught. Gotoh tuners & bridge, graph tech nut and I'm thinking tone rider (the blues ones, name escapes me) pickups (white pickups black guard). Maybe I will get this done before my next (biggish) show!
That blue has turned out perfectly.
excellent!
3 coats into TOing and all is looking good.
Question. How many coats do you seasoned TO'ers do? And do you cut an polish afterward? Ive got access to a buffing wheel
Earlier mock up.

so nice!
looking so nice! love the look of this one, so fresh
looking very slick Shoey, don't rush the TO coats, one per 24 hours, needs to cure.
Depends how thick you are applying it, thin coats always the best. I'd see how it looks after 5 coats, maybe glossy enough. Let it cure for a week before you do any polishing by all means give it a polish on the buffer wheel.
Try and make the last coat thin and hold it up to the light looking for any streaks
Make sure the TO is thick enough to C&P too. It's a lot thinner than you think and easy to rub through to the stain.
Looks fresh as someone above said ^
What would make it REALLY pop (I think) would be some electric blue fret markers. That'd be rad.
Thanks guys. Been sure to leave 24 hrs between coats.
Hmm blue fret markers you say. I like that idea. I'm looking at the black gotoh tuners, black bridge, black nut, pick guard etc etc but white pickups/knobs.
So here it is. I need to get a kink out of the first 3 frets as there's some fret buzz (the truss rod isn't playing ball). Have a $3 black pick guard coming from china but might not be here for some time. Plays ok for a $150 guitar, I'm happy.

Well, that just looks fantastic. Nicely done.
Nicely done mate. That blue is very nice!
well done Shoey, sounds like it needs a fret level and truss rod adjustment takes practice. Let us know how you go getting it playing better
