Sanding sealer verdict. The surface is as close to glass as ash with no grain filler can get but the sterates in it clog the paper up so bad.
Golden oak prooftint with maybe some Japan brown.
sounds like a cool plan Andrew.
I'll pour you another pint in the naughty room !
Ready to stain!

Mate I should have a keg with my name on it. First was the acrylic ex, then acrylic and 2k Tele, fw stain and 2k lp, now this!
That is looking really good!
Wow, she's looking amazing Andrew. After a little stain the burnt grain has come up amazingly! Fantastic job!
cheers,
Gav.
Now thats a different method. Looks great Andrew.
Ah yes! She's definitely come together once the stain went on... continue!
A few more pics with the second coat of stain dried.

I'm impressed Andrew, I will be trying this technique in the near future. I got a STA-1 in a box ready
Nice one. Not that I'm in any position to give advice, but get some pine sheets wit a bit of grain going on and get a feel of the torch. My first few attempts were god aweful.
Are you sticking with the white hardware? In my mind I'm trying to visualise it with different colour pickguards - white, black, tortoise-shell - but my brain's not clever enough to cope.
Yeah mate sticking to white for now anyway. It may change. When I get home I'll snap a few photos of the body with the white guard in place.
I think a tort pickguard would look killer on this. Shaping up very nicely.
Yeah man if the white looks odd a red tort guard and trem cover will be ordered post haste. Got the pups ordered for this and the Tele, a string through bridge and ferules for the Tele also. It's like Christmas but better.
Wow that looks awesome...
Here is the body with the white guard. Verdict? I kind of like it, but the tort may look a bit too busy. What do you guys reckon?

I think the white is a bit too stark. Maybe a black guard?
I'll stick the black Tele guard up against it in the morning and snap a photo. Won't fit but at least we can see the contrast.
White looks 100 times better than black Andrew IMO. Maybe white pearloid?
cheers,
Gav.
Man I'the opposite Gav I really like the black :P
Whatever floats your boat Andrew
Maybe black with black bling? Make the body the hero - don't go too funky with the pickguard.
Yeah I'm leaning towards black with black knobs and white covers.
Scratch that, white knobs, white pups, black guard.

Nice job with the stencil mate. How did you make it?
For this one I got it laser cut by the local sign shop. Not entirely happy with it to tell you the truth. Going to try with acetate paper and a craft knife tonight.
Also, check out wax paper transfers on wood on Google. Looks interesting.
Just thought I'd put this up. Logo done with a wax paper transfer. Introducing the walkertone forecaster haha

And with the first coat of naughty oil.

Damn auto correct. Firecaster. Not forecaster.
Love the effect Andrew. Overall a cracker of a build!
5 coats on the body and 3 on the neck. How many coats should I apply to get a nice satin finish?
