How did you find the stock pup and string sound? Have you found a need for upgrades?

hey Metaligun, if you can spare the coin it's worth upgrading the pups, add a bone nut is worthwhile and not sure if the latest kits come with Ernie Ball strings but if not grab some decent strings.
Andy upgraded pups on his and has a sound demo.
My SGD is currently in pieces at the moment. I want to re-wire it and upgrade the electrics which is another worthwhile upgrade.
Just finding the time to do it !

You hit the nail on the head with my plans. I am going to upgrade the pups to Slash signatures, add bone nuts and Slinky strings.
I noticed in your SGD post that you added copper lining to the body cavities and also you're planning to upgrade the wiring.
Does the copper reduce buzz and should I consider a wiring upgrade straight up to compliment the pups?

Hey Metaligun, yes the copper shielding is worthwhile it reduces RF interference. For the longer wire runs use shielded wire will lessen the hum. You will need at least 2 packs of copper shielding as there are so many cavities !

Your Sunburst finish has to be one of the best, if not best DIY I've seen. You should be so proud of the finish. I would buy the guitar in a shop in a heartbeat (if it was a lefty of course!! hahaha)

Yeah i was going to say, are you custom ordering a lefty SGD-612? how are you going to tackle the righty kit?
