My first build...ESB4

After a day of drying I've noticed a bit of a difference in colour tone between the neck and the body. It's not a huge difference. Neck is lighter in colour though. Is this normal?

that stain is awesome! my next build will be a semi acoustic so I'm keen to follow your build!!
as far as the difference with the neck color, just give the neck an extra coat of stain, it will still look sweet even it goes a bit too dark.
I've found a similar result on my bass kit I'm doing at the moment, the maple in the neck absords the stain less than the basswood body.

Thats a pretty good coverage on the neck.
Maple can be a bit temperamental due to its density. Personally I would leave it as is :)

Gotta say that using Dingotone is a joy.. I've stained a fair bit of furniture with your typical name brand stains
and couldn't wait to get out of the garage because of the fumes.. None of that with Dingotone.. Great product mate!

Looking awesome Danno. The Uluru red really is an amazing shade. This is going to be a killer bass. I love mine to death and you are going to be very happy with yours. Can't wait to see it strung up.

Damo staining is looking really nice. I've found most of my builds the maple neck doesn't take the stain as well as other timbers. Not a bad thing if it ends up being a bit lighter in colour or just put another one or two coats of intensifying coat on the neck and the colours should almost match the body

That's why I prefer clear necks, to get rid of the inconsistent colour. Still looks great Damo!

Being patient though.. Drying, drying, drying..
I'm gonna have a crack at the wiring whilst I wait as my braided wire just arrived today..

Thanks Kelooe I think I might do a clear neck on my next build because the maple looks so nice straight out of the box..
