i personally think there is some difference, but there are so many other factors as well such as amps, pedals, processing, strings, picks, bridge material, fret material, nut material etc, that i am sure you can make this playable and sound cool too. enjoyQuote:

Pine can look really nice, here is a pic of a scratch built gun with a pine stock, the barrel looks rather smick too.
The guy who made it lives in Brissie and was involved with Metal Storm making the early prototypes

Take it easy Warren, this build has to last me for a couple of months. lol
Just kidding.
Pup cavities finished.
Now to cut out the body shape on all three “layers”. I was not too sure whether to rough cut the shape with a Tenon saw and then trim it up with a rasp or use a coping saw. I decided to go with the first option. That didn’t work out too well as cutting lots of straight line left a mountain of rasping, which was a lot harder than I expected. So the remaining pine and plywood layers were cut with a coping saw. It took 2 hours with the coping saw and by the time I had finished I could hardly hold the saw properly. But at least it was a bit more accurate than the tenon saw.
Once the sheets were rough cut I clamped them together and then drilled three small pilot holes where the volume knob and 3-way switch were going. The more observant among you may ask why three holes for two knobs…? I have no idea! I think fatigue was starting to set in. A dab of timbermate and she’ll be as good as new. Lol.
I then used the outer pilot holes as guides for the spade bit and drilled through the back and middle layers. This gave me the dimensions for the control cavity.
On the front, again using the pilot holes to guide the spade bit, I drilled in from the back being careful not drill all the way through as I won’t be using a front control plate.
I think I have now reached the stage where I can glue the 3 pieces together.

1. First of the 2 pup cavities complete. I hope I’ve left enough of a gap for the copper foil.
2. This will be the back of the guitar. It took well over an hour to cut this out. Note to self, buy some new coping saw blades. Lol.
