good move Andrew, you will never regret a fretless bass. If you get the fret puller all you need is the correct width binding, some super glue and sand paper. DB helped me remove the frets on my IB5 (should have seen the smile on his face) and put in the first dozen or so fret markers (binding) in the slots and I did the rest. Also helps to have the correct width fret saw to clean out the slots before you glue the binding in.
I still must file down the height of the bone nut !

Really nice score with the grain there Andrew. What are your plans as far as a finish?

Will be wood dye based (I have a lot of colortone etc to use up) and this will most likely get the black stain /pop grain treatment

Should work perfectly for that grain. So no colour choice as of yet?

Na, a bit stumped on colour. I also have a load of white Wudtone so may use that but need to experiment with grain popping and tru oil finish to see how it all works... I love a good old fashion experiment

I was kind of keen on an unlined unit, though.

Back in the saddle again so to speak after hols. Seems a heap of new forumites and builds have been started over Xmas so welcome all & happy 2016!

So, time to revisit this bass project. Time to remove the speed humps. Used an ancient butter knife to encourage the humps out. No dramas and done in 10 minutes. Just wedged under at the edge, lifted and pulled out by hand.

I think I'll fill the gaps with veneer.
