Arrrrrrrghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.
Gosh darn cat!!!!!!
Opened a tin of Cabots Dark Oak stain which I had laying around. Just tearing up a rag to apply it to a test piece and one of the cats decided to jump up on the workbench.
Stain went everywhere.
Luckily I had moved most of the kit parts to another bench.
It turns out a lot of the spill was contained - in my toolbox.

Ok, time for a piccie or three.
The neck and headstock have 5 coats of Tru-Oil. Five or six to go.
Still sanding the body. I am pretty sure it will have 5 or 6 coats of Dingotone Coolangatta Gold + an intensifier coat or two, topped off with a couple or more coats of top coat.
The back and sides are still up in the air - I want it different to the top so I might not use the intensifier, just the gold and top coats.
man that looks great man. Iridescent almost
Yes it is a nice bit of mahogany. One of the reasons I decided to simply oil it.
nice work Rabbitz, looks good
neck and headstock grain looks fantastic Rabitz, so thats just tru oil only ? Forgot how nice natural mahogany can look !
Plan for the body sounds great
Loving the neck Rabz!
Well it's been a week or so since I made any progress.
(a small matter of an overseas trip got in the way)
So today I set up a chair in the sun and did some more sanding - it was quite lovely and relaxing.
I am glad I decided to get some vitamin D, as the sunshine made a lot of the scratches so much more visible. I put in most of the work into the end-grain areas of the body.
Still plenty of work to do.
