Gavin, I find it interesting to build the kits even 'tho I cant play. I try to concentrate on getting the best finish I can, and setting it up from the advice from the videos, so hopefully it turns out OK! I suppose I swear as much as the next person when glue gets where it shouldn't, or you place the newly finished body down on a towel with a wet spot of turps which attacks the finish; seems like we all do it and make work for ourselves. Still waiting for the new kit to arrive, so until it does I cant really plan a colour or what its going to look like. Could be interesting. I did learn my first cord, so its a start....:D
so what kit is coming a tele Jeff ?
every guitar player starts off learning the first chord, all it is is lots of practice now !
I think at my age and a little arthritis I will never play like others, although I've always admired those that can make music in any way, even whistling. I just wish that I new about the trade, 50r years ago instead of the trade I followed ( watchmaker). Would love to be able to build guitars like the link in the first post.
Yes, my next build is going to be a Tele, wanted something a little simpler. Depending on the grain, could be stained black. I did say my next build was going to be a Les Paul Jr, so it looks like I might have to make a 3rd. We will see. I didn't realize GAS could hit you so fast......;)
Hey Jeff, looks like we have similar interests. Whilst not a watchmaker, I build and do some repairs on mechanical watches. Bezel and crystal changes, and movement swaps etc. I have an engraved Hamilton dial from a small pocket watch I am slowly building into a wrist watch. A bigger size as it will be powered by a 6498 - seconds at 6
