Very nice! Guess I should check the neck fit on mine too, before I get carried away with anything else.
Thanks for the kind words @Brendan, @Scott, @Andrew @AJ, @Nick, & @Metalhead! Very excited to see how it comes out. Sanding is taking an intolerable time! @Wokks - I was referring to your confidence in my ability with the staining not the wiring dude :) !
cheers,
Gav.
haha no worries Gav, I thought the vote of confidence comment was a piss take haha all good. Sure this will be a stunning build bro, look forward to first stain coat after a test stain in a cavity
that prs vid was amazing. Makes me want to try!
hi guys,
Today I got the body sanded to 360 grit and grain filled with walnut timbermate. Grain popped pretty nicely and was finished off with 400 grit. She's now super smooth..

nice one Gav that grain will really pop when you stain and clear it. What stains you using for this baby ?
hi guys,
I also got the top dyed today. I didn't go for the sandstorm dye in the end - I stuck with what I knew and went for a simple burst. There's a little glue down near the heel (i think, unless it's a something else) but no amount of wire brushing could budge it. Oh well, it looks OK nonetheless.
The colortone dyes were appled as follows:
yellow
vintage amber
red mahogany
tobacco brown.
