Havent seen many capped guitars on the forums that dont have exceptional caps so it should turn up looking smick.

Nick your cap should be ok on the IB7, first thing to do is to rub a damp cloth over looking for any glue and the most common mistake is sanding through the ultra thin caps

There may have to be an extension built onto the naughty room.. initial thoughts for my next build are a toss-up between two banned substances (Tru-oil or a wipe-on poly) over Colourtone... (more for the fact I've never tried Tru-oil)... is there Guinness on tap?

Can arrange guiness on tap but myself and DB prefer Belgian dark strong ales like quadruples

That's one killer dye job Tony!! Love it dude. You've really done a great job with the burst as well. Once the TO sinks into the top, it will pop the flames even more than they are now. Chatoyance galore!!

Had some Flame maple veneer turn up today and was wondering what the best glue was to fix the veneer to headstock /body.

Titebond??

nice veneers Tony, yeah I use titebond, try not to get any on the veneer top.
Whats the plan are you gluing flame maple to the body of this build ? looks amazing now the blue/black dye

Wokka, going to do the headstock on this one.
Was going to have a crack with the veneer though on the front of the 2nds ash tele that i got awhile ago

At an impass as to what to do the body and neck of this with. Have a whole pile of stains but cant get me head around what colour to compliment the Blue, have done some colour checks on other wood (pine) but nothing seems to jump out when compared against the guitar. Or colour dark blue or black.

I'd use the same colours for the headstock veneer as the body Tony, try a black/blue burst and if that doesn't work probably black should look good.
That flame maple will look choice on an ash tele and no binding to worry about
