Yes, working well.
So I'm pretty happy with the colour now and I'm ready for clear coats.
Took some photo in the sun (finally the sun!) before clear.

I did a test comparison of 2 wipe on polys, the Feast & Watson (oil based) I used in the red Strat, and a Minwax water based.
I was expecting the water based one to be less yellowing than the oil based product, so I stained a test bit and applied 6 coats of each side by side, with a reference strip in the middle protected by masking tape.
Minwax on left, F&W on right: https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...3e6316ced1.jpg
Interestingly the minwax came out more yellow than the F&W... not a lot, you can't really see it on the photo, and it could be because I applied it thicker than the other, but no benefit compared to the F&W.
Also because it's water based it seems to take some of the ink off the wood, the cloth used to apply ended up coloured purple while the other one was just the expected oily yellow... don't like the idea of removing any colour!
So I'm going to stick to the F&W. It was super easy and forgiving to apply last time and I got a great glossy finish.
So I got started with the neck and the front.

They say it dries in 6h so I'll do the back side tonight.
Pretty happy so far.
Hi Fred, that is a really nice shade of purple and coming along nicely.
Yes, I'd be very happy with that if I was doing a purple guitar.
this is coming along well, looking good
Loving that deeeeeeeeeep rich purple Fred! The purple one himself would approve.
Edit: named the wrong builder!! How embarrassment!
love the colour Fred, should come up nicely after the clear coats !
Thanks guys!
The wipe on poly should give it a yellow ish tint based on my test, but I actually like this, will make it look a bit vintage.
