Sounds like something is partially shorting between the pups in the bridge and middle positions. Post some pics of the wiring when you get a chance and we'll see what we can see.
good news, if you look in the bottom left hand corner of the wiring diagram you will see what I was missing..........."Earth all grounds to the Vol pot." I had some earthed to the tone pot, as soon as I ran a bridging wire everything worked fine :)
Onto mounting the bridge and stringing her up!
And it's done. Rose trems are a pain in the butt!
It's just strung with the Chinese strings while the neck settles in and I get the intonation fully sussed but it's working :)

I must say I'm impressed with the Entwhistle Darkstar pickups, with the splits it has a wide range of sounds, running through some presets on my little Vox amp it sounds every bit as good as my Korean Gretch and is surprisingly comfortable to play. Going to have a day or 3 away from the work shop, will get back to setting it up properly toward the weekend. But colour me happy yet again :D
good stuff Dedman, I put some dark stars in an Explorer build and they are bang for your buck pipckup indeed
I did some "literal" fine tuning on this today. Took the Chinese strings off and put on a set of DR Black Beauty's and reset the trem as it was sitting way too high. I had the problem that when I screwed it in tighter the springs would pop out. I cut the retaining slots a little deeper and bent the tips of the springs a bit more and the problem was solved. I set up the intonation as best I could with the new strings, will give them a couple of days to settle and give it anther go, then lock them down. I also remembered to put the strap buttons on, it is a little neck biased but as I usually sit to play it's not going to worry me.
So I can call this defiantly finished. :)
sounds good Dedman, would love to hear/see a sound demo but I know you don't have a recording device in the house !
