Epiphone Stock pick ups - thoughts?

Hi All,

I saw in facebook market place someone selling 2 stock epiphone pick ups for $30. They were from an ES339 guitar before.

Anyone have any thoughts on these humbuckers and whether they are worth a look?

I have a couple of options for them - to go into my tele kit that is still to come, or into my Ibanez Artcore AF85.

I cannot comment specifically on the ES339 pups but my original Epiphone Casino pups (P90) are over-wound and sound terrible...

My eldest Son's Epi LP Gold Top's sound muddy yet the ones in my Slash AFD sound almost the same as Alnico IV Toneriders in the EX-1...go figure?

For $15 each that probably gives a fair indication of what the current owner thinks of them. Hard to say if there would be much, if any at all improvement on the stock Chinese kit PUP's.

I recently helped a mate to change out the stock pickups from his Epiphone LP Studio to a set of Gibson 57 Classics. Have to say that the difference was not subtle.

Stock pickups definitely sounded muddy. The Gibson's... well, my mate grins every time he plays that guitar.
