Please note: This competition is open to amateur guitar builders only. If you are making and selling guitars for profit, you are ineligible. Also while there are some stunning guitars around - you never know what the judges are looking for, so we encourage anyone who's built a Pitbull during the month to enter!
Competition for December closes at the end of November (Perth Western Australian time).
The sorts of things we judge on include:
· How well have the body and neck been prepared
· Is the choice of finish for the style of guitar appropriate
· How well has the finish been applied
· How well has all the hardware, pickups, etc, been installed
· Does it have the 'Wow Factor'· Which guitar would you make a beeline for in a guitar shop. That is, which one would you most like to take home.
BTW - remember that the winner is invited to be a guest judge the following month!

Bought this GPR-1M kit nearly two years ago and only just finished it today! Was a factory second with a few flaws and issues but mostly all fixed up! All stock parts from what I remember except the nut which I swapped out with a black plastic one I had around and d'addario strings.

Is this a win by default or should it stay open and become Jan guitar of the month? 😄

A Jan 2023 entry perhaps? (I can't compete with Benjh96's beautiful guitar!) Body was many many layers of dingo red stain, and blue/ red oil paint mixed with more jara stain. Neck is handploy finish over a carving using celtic eagle intertwined with a snake, grooves filled with oil paint/ stain mix then sanded back to clean up edges. Went with flatwound strings to differentiate from my other bass. Very nervously adjusted neck and internation. Sounds excellent

Hi, is the Guitar of the Month still a thing? There don't appear to be any posts since Kate last year.

Good question. Hopefully, someone from PB will let us all know!

This my contribution, finished this a couple of weeks ago. Not the shiny sparkling body but a bit more of a gothic approach without going overboard. JET BLACK is an Indian ink option I chose as apposed to the high gloss. The neck I used an Ebonising stain using fine grade steel wool and soaked in Vinegar for a couple weeks, the body and neck were then spray in a Saturn clear. A few up grades, Tone rider jazz pickups, eagle tuners, bone nut, Schaller strap locks, chrome bridge and neck pickup covers. Low action plays great, a little heavier with the Ash body and the bling but sounds just fine and plays nicely. Attachment 44866Attachment 44867Attachment 44868Attachment 44869Attachment 44870

The black and silver sit very well together. Nice.
