Thread: Brodies MB-1 "The Wasp"

  1. #1
Hey there folks, and welcome to my build diary.

I'm going to take you on a journey into the mind of someone who has no idea what he's doing, but who's gonna have a blast doing it anyway.

I'm building an MB-1 kit which I plan to modify slightly and try a whole plethora of different things on.

Attached are a few photos of the kit in its raw form, and I'll keep you all updated as I go.

    Let's have some fun!

    Cheers,

    Brodie

(PS. Feel free to check out my IB-1 build I am completing concurrently with this one)

Awesome stuff Brodie. Love your attitude mate.

The MB is a killer shaped design, your going to have one very cool axe once it's done.

Hey guys, thanks for the interest in my build.

@DanMade: I'm a bit of an out there person, and I loved the look of the Mockingbird body (suits my nature) so inspiration struck. Hopefully your prediction is correct.

@Wokka: I intend to put my layer painting to the test, as I want to have a black/yellow alternating stripe pattern across the body. I'm also going to reshape the neck mount to be more like that of the IB, and recess the screws into the body for a cleaner look (I don't like neck plates on bolt-ons - they look tacky to me). I'm also going to mount a decal of a wasp underneath my clear, up on the big empty space above the bridge. Never tried it, nor seen it done before so we'll see how that goes.

I'll get some photos of my design process up shortly. I've also started sanding ready for primer coats too. Exciting times ahead methinks.

    Update:

After spending an hour and a half (or more) in front of a computer screen I have put together a rough design for The Wasp. I know it's fairly wild and in your face, but that's what I'm going for with this baby. I already have the understated guitars.

I'll be trying a whole plethora of different things to make this happen, so could be an interesting journey.

But yeah, more on that later. What do you all reckon?
