I know where you're coming from Simon.... It is surprising on how quickly you can become (re)attached to a sensation. Particularly when you haven't felt it in such a long time. Pretty well all my builds have Tru-oil neck finish and most of my store bought axes have Poly necks, so a known Nitro is a real distraction. Even my 2016 Gibo LP doesn't feel this good in the palm, but I'm also more game to "play" with the finish on this neck.

Really should stick to the original plan with the neck despite what my sense of touch is telling me .... Body issues are fine, it's the neck that is distracting me...

Have got all the vintage white coats down, and 3 decent coats of gloss clear over them...
Just before the last clear coat I did do a light sanding with 400 to knock down any "hairs" and such.

Gloss came up quite nice so am very tempted to not sand from 1500 to 4000 and just buff... Issue is there is quite a lot of wood texture still visible on the front and back surfaces and any attempt to remove that will most likely result in burn through. I have a down feather buff wheel and a light going over with that might just get me there....

Anyways, I have some alternative pick guards to choose from.... Not sue if to stay with the original kit white or go black...

    Certainly is Simon...

I'm quite taken by the kit guard with the true white on the vintage white, but the black just looks so bad ass...

A trusted lady friend of mine says do the black guard.... decision in a few days

I reckon it's the one on the low/left.
    That closely matches this one
