Cabothane satin clear neck: stain or no?

OK, so while at the big green shed to get a coping saw (and spare blades), I bought a rattle can of cabothane clear satin to use on the neck. Has anyone used this on a neck without staining? If so, are there pictures or a description of how it looked? Trying to work out whether to stain first or not. If I do stain, it's going to be something traditional like Feast and Watson golden teak diluted down with some colour reducer. I don't have any spare maple so plan to use the headstock offcut for testing.

I personally don't think it needs a stain under it. It will yellow a bit over time. The only one I've used satin on and not stained in the link below. I don't have many good photos of this job unfortunately.

The cabots poly is awesome on necks though, it feels great when playing.
