    Maple neck fingerboard finish

I've made 2 of these so far - and left them unfinished. They look really weird at first, but begin to settle in with finger grease.

I'm about to do a few more. What's the opinion of the group? Tru-oil finish it or leave it raw? I'm torn.

Did I post this in the wrong section or offend someone somehow? Just askin' a question.

    O.K. If you insist.
Having tried Tru-Oil on the fingerboard, I'd opt for a hard poly finish.
Tru-Oil seems to rub off for me.
Raw maple is too stark for my liking but each to their own.

    cheers, Mark.

Personally I avoid maple fingerboards. It looks horrible once it's worn. But if I was building a kit and maple was the only choice I'd seal it with something to keep it looking nice. It would need more that Tru Oil for that.

I would seal it with poly. Satin is really nice on necks.

I started with tru oil on my neck on my kit and I wasn't impressed with how it looked. I've now gone with a nitro lacquer finish.
