Yep. Started Monday afternoon. Finished Thursday night. It really is a fast finish. I think it only requires oil as burning the wood kind of treats it. And not needing a flat surface meant that was very little sanding. Mostly just the neck.

The wipe on poly can probably use a bit more time to completely harden. And I'll probably find little bits to clean up. But overall I'm really happy with it.

    Thanks guys.

And I now understand why the "worn" finishes from Gibson are so much cheaper. I personally like the look of them.

Tried to get some more pictures which better show the grain from the burning process.

I generally prefer gloss over matt finishes. This is an exception. I especially like that scar in the middle of the knot in that second photo. The more I look at it the more I reckon gloss would spoil it. Great job.

Finally finished this one off completely. I bought some Epiphone Pro Buckers to install ages ago but the pots didn't have any nuts or washers. Bit of back and forth with the seller and long story short they never sent me any nuts and I ended up ordering some online since neither Jaycar or Bunnings had anything that fit. They're 8mm pots so I didn't have any other pots to steal the nuts from.

The knobs are some I'd previously bought but didn't end up using. I think they look pretty good with the colouring of this guitar.

Now it's all ready to be given to my friend who I haven't seen for a long time now with all of the CoViD-19 lockdowns and the like. Can't wait to see his face when I say that it's his. I'm leaving on the plastic protectors for him to remove.
