    Hmmm, that is unusually short IME. Definitely see why you posted earlier, but hopefully you got enough advice there that you've got it sorted now.

    Reading round the web, that seems to be the norm for these pickups, which I find surprising.

    Supposedlyeither a) it's supposed to run to a screw in the pickup cavity, and another wire from the screw runs to the pot ground (and another wire to ground the bridge plate) or b) supposed to fit under the bridge plate with another ground wire from a pot running to the same location.

    a) might be OK for a Strat with a common pickup cavity but not on a Tele where the control rout is the common point of connection for the pickups and b) sounds like a really cheapskate and not that reliable way of connecting up the grounds.

    It's also got no baseplate, which is surprising for a Fender Tele pickup.

    No base plate is definitely rather odd
