Is it possible with some sort of paint?
Is it worth the effort?

Hi Cliff,
i don’t think anyone bothers. Certainly the two commercially built hollow body axes I have aren’t shielded, and they don’t seem to suffer from interference issues. Shielded cables may be a good move, but I think it all becomes a bit subjective.

Hand crafting guitars, because Death Rays are expensive.
Thanks.
I have a semi-hollow 335 with 2xHB & all the wires are shielded & it seems fine.
I am going to be building a couple of hollow bodies from kits.
One will have Tonerider Rebel 90s in it & the other will have Kinman P90s in it.
I will use shielded wire & ground everything metal..

I had the same question. The only way that I could see doing that was by pouring a huge amount of shielding paint into an f-hole, taping things off and shaking. That would be expensive and messy. Plus I would have had to endure the eye-rolling of the people on this forum. I went with shielded cable too ;-)
It may also be good to wire the P90s so that they buck hum in the middle switch position...or at least to have that option with a push pull pot. I have an ES style bass with well shielded wiring, but with single-coil lipstick tubes. My center switch position is not humbucking. Hum is not severe, but lighting and the fridge we keep in my garage/office/studio sometimes makes it hum. I also have a 1968 Fender Coronado with the original wiring and single coil D'Armond pickups. Looking at it hard will make it hum. Good to have a humbucking option even if you only use it when you really have to.
The Kinman P90 HX are Hum Free.
The Rebel 90s may have a bit of trouble with hum.

If you get the Kinmans I will be looking forward to a review. I have heard good things about them.
