DGM-12 - First Time Build

Hi everyone.

First time would-be builder. Just unboxed the beast. Looks like it is all there.

Wood seems pretty smooth - how much do you think I need to sand it? Probably going for a stain with clear coat on it.

Welcome RobinB.

You will need to sand the whole body up from 80g up to about 320g. It may seem smooth but stain will show up any machine marks, glue spots or other inconsistencies. It is often advisable to go over the body with a damp (not wet) clothe as this will often show these issues.

The general mantra is sand until you think it’s enough and then keep sanding. The other trick is to always sand with, not across, the grain.

I second Fretworns advice - sand until you can't keep going, then rest and repeat. I've had to re-sand all of mine so far because there were scratches I couldn't see until the stain went on, and it's a pain
