So what you are saying is that recording and mixing in a rattly shed with a washing machine and periodic air compressor interruptions is not ideal? Must show this to the minister of finance.

The first one is a mono file of spoken word. Recorded with an omni mic (with the HPF applied I discovered afterwards - oops), with the acoustic baffles moved to the 'recording' position and the duvet down, but no other processing applied. Basically it's as close as I can get to the unadulterated damped-room sound.
The second is a stereo file (M/S) of guitar recordings. Two different acoustic guitars playing two pieces and one semi-acoustic through a small amp. Again, no processing other than the M/S decoder. The mid mic was set on cardiod for this one, the duvet was up and the baffles were in the normal 'listening' position.
I apologise for the state of the guitar playing, my finger is really only just healed up enough to start playing again so I'm really quite rusty.
Any comments or thoughts on the recordings very welcome.

Lots of promise with the guitar recordings. To me with the M/S set as wide as you've got it, on its own the acoustic guitar recordings sounds far too big and unnatural, and it sounds more like two guitars superimposed than one guitar. Guitars just aren't that big. But the recording's got nice depth, clarity and detail. But that wide sound would probably sound 'interesting' and more 'right' with a central vocal over the top of it. Maybe try another mix with the sides less prevalent?
