OK. Help. Stain bleed.

Hello All

I'm sure I'm not the first and won't be the last. I taped the trimming or binding or whatever you call but the stain still leaked into it. See photos. Can this be saved or will I just go over it with the stain anyway and make the best of a bad job?

Should be pretty straightforward to fix. If you get a razor blade flush with the binding and gently scrape, you should be able to get rid of it. They use a special tool, but you can just as easily use a razor blade or box cutter blade... Just watch the fingers

Some people have used methylated spirits to remove excess stain that has bled through into binding.

That looks really good. I'll definitely give this method a shot. It's almost not worth taping the binding at all.

I wrap tape around the razer blade to create a depth stop.

Sort of like this except I don't use this much tape. (Part way down the page)

Same, It's not as scary as it looks, some tape round the blade and fingers firmly against the body it's pretty straight forward.
