Hi Guys. First guitar build will be an ES-1.

Hi all, just bought an ES-1 to build. I haven't played much for many years since I was in my twenties playing in scrappy punk bands (I can play u three chords in any combination you like), but have been inspired by playing in the staff band. I built my first electric guitar with my father as a kid, and my construction skills and electronic skills are OK, so am really looking forward to building a new instrument.

My musical interests are pretty much stuck in my youth, 60's - 80's rock and roll (Stones, Bowie, Lou Reed, Velvet Underground, Jethro Tull, Clash, Damned, Dr Feelgood, Dylan, Joplin, Hendrix, 60's soul and psychedelia, you get the picture).

Thanks for the welcome, guys.

I've received my ES-1 kit, and man, it looks cool. I'm gonna do it in Uluru-red Dingotone. Have just done a dry-fit component check, and seems complete, nothing missing.

I'll head over to the build diary thread and start posting photos.

So, as recommended I'll plan, take my time and be patient. Here's my build plan so far;

1) Build guitar
2) Practice to play like B. B. King

OK, so maybe the plan needs a little work
