    Tru-oil with Inlay

Anybody have experience with embedding a MOP inlay in a tru-oil finish? Been googlin, no joy so far... I'm unclear how to keep it, well, clear, but not be raw MOP, or what?

    Thanks folks!

Shouldn't be a problem. Tru oil will tend towards yellow - which may affect the MOP - depending on starting and finishing colour.

I'm wanting to set white blue and green in a gunstock looking design, hence my disposition toward tru-oil. Should I stain and clearcoat instead?

Having used TO on 7 out of 7 builds I would suggest using it as a base around the MOP but advise against using it on top as it will age and yellow fairly quickly, thus changing the colours you now have. Sounds like you might be better off with some White Knight clear acrylic in a rattle can to go on top of the MOP as it will keep it looking as good as new much longer.
