Thanks so much for all the advice on the glue spot. Denatured alcohol and light touch with a small wire brush did the trick. I'm ready for a final sand of the back and sides and some clear coat.
I'm really pretty over the moon with the way the top came out. It's been a labor of love for more than two weeks!
I think I made the right choice with the ebony neck. It looks fantastic with the black hardware.
    Cheers!

I can't say i am a fan of the kit, but I love how that finish is coming along. Wonderful work RotoTok, looks fantastic. Definitely agree on the Ebony board, very good call.

The clear coat is finally finished and I'm thrilled with the results. The "face" created by the quilt between the two pickup cavities is stunning, IMHO.
I'm going to let this cure for the rest of the week, and begin the hardware install next Saturday.
    I'm so pumped!

    Hahaha! That...looks...mad!
I’ll have to ask Adam for a face in the quilted veneer for my next order.

Okay! The hardware is in. That said, the "Overlord of Music" bridge (who the hell came up with that?!) had its tuner's teflon spacers crack and fall out upon first string intall, rendering it nearly unusable. Without those spacers, the tuning pegs are impossible to fine tune, even with a screwdriver.
I have ordered an upgraded J-Custom tailpiece from Jeff Babicz' group, Headless USA. I'll keep you posted.
BTW - the depth in this finish is just crazy. It was a lesson in patience for sure, but sooooooooooo worth it.
    Cheers!

Yup, exact same thing happened to me on my KH-1 build. You'll like the J-Custom bridge. It's worlds better. Take a look at their headpiece as well.

That really is a great-looking instrument. Nice work.

I ended up getting the head piece, too. And you're right - I love it.
    It even looks better.
