    RotoTok's First Build

I've been working on guitars for friends, family and coworkers for more than 10 years. I figured it was about time to bite the bullet and go a little deeper into the weeds.
I love the look of this guitar. The quilted maple top has a few flaws in it - one sizable one, in fact - but I'm going to use it as a means of learning how to work with them.
I'm going try a sunset glow finish on this. Heavy on the orange with lemon yellow highlights.
    Stay tuned!

    Welcome to the forum RotoTok.

Interesting looking kit with some Rocksongs on the side. Keen to see and hear how this turns out.

    Cheers, Waz

Thanks so much everyone! I think this may be the first of many!
I really like the kit, and I'll probably be upgrading the guts over time.
I decided on, what I'm calling, a citrus glow finish. The first two coats are on, and I think it looks good! One layer of diluted orange, and diluted lemon yellow.

I've circled a blemish in the top. Is that normal, or did I get a second?
    Cheers,

That looks like a glue spot.
Goof off usually gets rid of them but that would also mean re-staining that section too.

    Hello, everyone!
Thanks so much for all the advice on the glue spot. Denatured alcohol and light touch with a small wire brush did the trick. I'm ready for a final sand of the back and sides and some clear coat.
I'm really pretty over the moon with the way the top came out. It's been a labor of love for more than two weeks!
I think I made the right choice with the ebony neck. It looks fantastic with the black hardware.
    Cheers!
