#01 Build, GTL-1 Belated Holiday Project with Son

Hi All from South Coast NSW,

We are excited to build, but not having a lot experience, i think we have adopted the watch 100, measure twice, watch again, measure a few more times, think about it then post online while still unsure.

    This is we are at.

    What we think so far,
The Parts are there, we think.
    Pickups are single strand?
    Neck seems ok, so far
Got a design for head stock already.
    But..
Some of the standard tuners that came with the guitar don't seem to tighten down to the washer (just finger tight, dont want to force it).

    Any thoughts?

and, the finish on these is bubbled, should have got the upgrade..

Just about to head to the Hardware to pick up some supplies.

    Cheers,

    Rotund

Might be the little round stickers that you're seeing as bubbled. If so, peel them off when you're in the final stages of your build.

    Mabe,

    Ill have a closer look,
FYI i used a socket on the machine heads, they seemed to tighten down ok but not happy about it, im sure they will be fine.
Will look at locking tuners if this thing works out anyway..

    Cheers

Do the tuner nuts screw down enough to hold the tuner firmly to the headstock? The tuner nuts rarely screw down all the way to the base of the tuner itself. But as long as they screw down enough to hold the tuner firmly to the wood, then you're fine. You'll need to use a spanner (10mm) to get the tuner tight enough, but if you are using reasonable force on the spanner and the nut's stopped turning and it's still loose, then there's an issue.

The small screw is only there to stop the tuner rotating under string tension. The tuner is held on by the nut.

As Dozymuppet says, there is normally round plastic stuck in the rear of the tuner to protect the surface of the round disc as it's inserted during manufacture. This is meant to be peeled off.
