Something has gone wrong, the neck has moved. I couldn’t get the drill into the holes as the clamp was in the way. I put a drill bit in the body where the neck sits and dot punched. I then had to take the neck off and drill the holes.
I’ve put everything back together and the stings do not line up. Not happy now and not sure where to go. I’m not sure if it’s the bridge or the neck.
Should I take the whole thing apart and dowel the neck and start again?

How is the neck sitting in the pocket? Is it a tight fit or very loose?
I got the neck sitting nicely in the pocket first.
Once I had the neck sorted out, then I used a long steel rule and a pencil to extend the line down the length of the guitar.
This is what determined the placement of the bridge.
So get the neck sorted first.

Okay, this is a good learning experience.

first up you want to try and work out where it has gone tits up.

I’d start by re-establishing your Center line and seeing how the neck and bridge line up to that, it may point out whether it was drilling or the marking prior to the drilling that has gone wrong.

if you can, post up a couple of shots of the rear of the neck pocket area and the drilled back of the neck, and a couple of the bridge in relation to the neck. The team will probably suggest some other potential fixes.

Everything is fixable, mate, don’t stress to much about it.

I was pleased with the neck sitting in the pocket, it definitely wasn’t loose. It wasn’t overly tight either. Having never done one before I had nothing to compare it to.
I did exactly what you mentioned above. It was all perfect. My down fall was taking it off the body to drill the neck as the clamp was in the way and I would have drilled at an angle.

When I glue and dowel the neck, best leave for 24hrs before drilling again?

Seems to me it's as you say. The neck has shifted between taking off the clamp and drilling.
IIRC On mine I was able to hold the guitar/neck in place (with my hand) whilst running a smaller drill bit through the body holes.

Managed to get the dowels as flat as, just like the video said.
Now to see if I can get the neck attached properly.
