I was looking at the above photos today and I had a eureka moment. I could sand the glue off within the break, titebond and clamp in position (clamping from above and below seems to pull it into shape), remove the tuners, drill a hole on an angle from within one tuner hole across the break, titebond in dowel, cut/sand any protruding dowel within the tuner hole.

Edit: ....or I could jolt head nail it! Lol.

I'b more reassured if there was No.8 fencing wire incorporated in there somewhere.....

Maybe route a little depression along the edge and put a line of fencing wire around the edge?

Holding it will be a bit of a challenge.

It was a bit tricky to glue together, it wants to do its own thing but I think I’ve got all the angles covered.

Hi Benhur,
I’m currently up in Dongara so I’ll unclamp it when I return home. When I first inspected it I didn’t realise the break was between the glue join of two separate pieces of wood. I’m still planning to angle a piece of dowel through the tuner hole to cross the wood join. Once that is done we might discuss future work.
