    First builid -- AGJM-1

    Hello Forum!

My postman delivered my SG Jr style kit this morning. It's waiting for me when I get home from work. This is a guitar style I've wanted for years, but purchasing a set neck version new has been cost prohibitive. While I've never built a kit, I've done my own guitar repairs for a few decades, and did several mix and match projects, pulling pieces off dead or incomplete guitars to create full instruments. Many of my guitars have been painted to give them unique finishes, but I've never stained an instrument. This will be my first go at that type of finish.

Looking forward to sharing my progress and learning from everyone here on the forum.

    God bless,
    Jim

Unreal! I did a full SG kit last year with a set neck, it's a very nice guitar. I finished it in mahogany spirit based stain which I like. I hope you have as much fun with your kit as I have with mine!

So far I'm impressed with the kit. A buddy of mine did a cheaper SG kit, and the body is small. The Pit bull kit doesn't suffer from that. I have sanded down the body, and rolled the edge on the upper bought to make it more comfortable on my right arm. My LP Jr beats me up with it's sharp edge when I play too long. Looking forward to adding some color in the next few days.

Nice! I bought some TransTint dye, and need to spend some time testing it before it touches the guitar body. Glad to hear your kit tired out well.

After several coats of purple TransTint and most of a can of Stew Mac clear lacquer, the SG is starting to look pretty dang good!
