There is absolutely nothing not to like about this guitar. If it feels in your hand like it looks it will be outstanding to play. I always think the coolest builds are the ones that look both familiar and not really like anything else. This has that in spades.

    Aww shucks, Cheers Fender.

I'll see if I can create some division with colour/finish choice :P

Nice work Sonic. I like what you did with the pickguard. It compliments the body shape nicely.

Likewise, I particularly like the way the back end of the pickguard runs parallel through the bridge pick up, as you say Sonic it is the details that make it

Cheers, yeah that was a good little bit of inspiration, also enhances the 'offset' look.

Final primer coat on this morning. I could probably keep going with refining but it's good enough and once it has colour + clear on it everything should flow nicely.

I have also decided on a finish approach... but I might wait and let the pics show it, hoping to have stage one down over the weekend.

Ok so that didn't go to plan. I got as far as the first light spray of top coat when I decided I wasn't happy with some of the curve shaping. Very tricky to get just right actually. Hopefully the first of the topcoats later in the week if the weather holds. It's dry and still, but pretty cold until mid morning atm.

Ok first top coats are on. Kind of an arctic white colour. Will need a few more coats, but this brings me to my current conundrum.

    Do I

    A) Leave it gloss white - which would be nice a clean
    B) Go ahead with my current plan which is to make it 2 tone, with an orange front face and a pinstripe separating the colours
    C) Hand paint some crazy bright artwork on it, thinking like flamingos or something similar to the attached samples...

    What do people think?

I like the two tone idea a lot. Are you thinking a 1970’s feature wall pastel orange or a sparkly candy orange? A general lee orange or a Lamborghini orange. So many possibilities....,

I have a can of Hemi orange, so yeah the General Lee colour, with a black or silver pinstripe. I tossed up doing a sparkly one, but not sure I can be bothered on this guitar.
