    Hi Sonic,
I like both of your builds but I tend towards the first body shape - that one certainly appeals to me. Guess it depends on personal taste.
I would probably like an option where the body and neck were more complete, a bit like a Pitbull kit.
Any idea of what you would charge for fully built version?

Oh right yes the Deluxster will alway be the first shape, just slightly re-proportioned. The current build is just messing around with a variant.

The final price for a finished Deluxester from me I think will be in the vicinity of $1200-$1500 at this stage. But it depends a lot on hardware/ materials etc and how well I am able streamline building them.

Love those neck bolts! Now that's utilitarian!!!

Not that you asked my opinion, but I much prefer your current design to the prototype.
It's coming together nicely as well. Good on ya!

That’s a fantastic set of options mate, I’d certainly be up for taking option one, though I’m not okay with not giving you anything for it.
I reckon you’re work in developing it and your generosity in offering it to the forum is worth some compensation. I’ll chat to you about that offline.

I’m thinking that it would be really cool to do this as a forum sourced build, and draw in some of the other forum builders like Andy40 or Woltz to wind some custom HB pups for it.

Yeah that sounds awesome and is exactly what I'd love to see happen. Perhaps some horse trading for the design files then? Not asking for $ makes it a little easier in terms of future licensing and copyright considerations (although that is thinking well into the future and probably overthinking to some degree). Option 1 is definitely the most straight forward for me.

Anyway, lets keep talking, some work to do on those files yet.

Back to the current build (which I guess is more or less the ShoeGazer V2) got a quick guide coat of undercoat on it yesterday. But splattery, but it's mostly to show me the areas that need work.. and there are heaps. So lots of fairly uninteresting sanding for a bit.

I'd be ok with option 1 or option 2 Sonic whatever makes you feel more comfortable. Obviously I would only be building one for myself and I could provide feedback as the build goes along if I have any suggestions. I reckon you should come up with a design for a slide decal that we can put on the guitar that gives credit to you to go with option 1 or 2 if you go down that path.

In regards to your copyright I hope no one stoops to the level to try and steal it and commercialise it for their own gain.

Happy to wind some pickups for you, I'd just need to have a dicussion with you about magnet choice and how hot you want them. I'm tending to use Alnico 2 magnets for my pickups because I like the sound more than Alnico 5. Although humbuckers it's easy enough to switch. If I wound any pickups for people I'd only charge what it cost me in parts because I'm not a pro obviously.

Honestly, it's highly unlikely that someone would nick it and even if that does happen, I'm not short on design ideas so I would just carry on with a variant.

So far Option 1 sounds like it'll work and its fine by me.

I'd love for you and Franky to collab on pickups etc, that'd be super cool to see. And I'd also be appreciative of feedback that would almost be worth it for me in terms of providing the designs. Always good to see another persons take.

Still happy to hear other peeps input, I'll try and get the plans properly finalised in the next few weeks and we'll see what the consensus is once I'm there. I will be doing the 2 humbucker, 1 vol, 1 tone 3 way switch thing in the designs, but you guys are more than welcome to change that for you own builds, it's mostly the neck/headstock and body shape that define it as a Deluxster.

And yep Decals are no problems at all.

I have always liked the idea of coil split options on humbuckers (I did that when rewiring my G&L) for the greater sonic palette they provide. But I have never heard a pickup that sounds good both split and unsplit.

Interestingly the cheap rails I have in my kit tele sounds reasonable both split and as a humbucker. It's not mind blowing in either configuration but it's not bad either. It's an Alnico 5 with resistance around the 13k mark from memory. I've thought about switching out the magnet to an Alnico 2 to be honest to see what happens.
