Oh man. I work in metric all the time with my job. It's essential. But my dad was Canadian and I worked on a lot of US based cars in my teens and early 20's, so sometimes I can't help describing things in imperial. The advantage is that it make rough conversion from one to the other in your head pretty easy.....

I was reading a guitar building book in which the author would switch between metric and imperial depending on what he was measuring. I understand convention can dictate use of one system over the other.

Is that 15mm all going on the back? How are you going to transition that added thickness down into the neck shaft?
After coming home from work tonight I was able to spend some time doing some clandestine sanding. Now I’ve got a better picture of what I am working with. With a bit more shaping and sanding the back piece of wood will sit flat against the neck with the neck curving to shape from that point. Remembering that the headstock section will be covered with veneer, I plan to curve the small side piece of veneer around the curve of the neck. It won’t be a big job, but as you can imagine it will be a fiddle to get it right.

Back of the headstock glued and clamped into position. Easier said than done.

10 pieces of wood glued onto the original headstock. It would only of been eight if I was clever. Slowly taking shape. Now, do I keep the corners or cut them off to leave the diamond shape? I’m going to sleep on it (not literally).
