That’s a bit fatalistic.
Well, behold! The headstock doesn’t look extra large to me, that’s going to give me something to think about. It’s a little rough on a quick inspection. Dark glue marks on the (anatomical) right side? Work to do.

Any advice here? Fill with glue? Timber mate? Etc.
Probably wouldn't worry about it too much if it were mine, but you could either glue or putty it pretty easily.

I'd just fill with a glue + sawdust mix. Timbermate doesn't have much structural strength. But I'd do that when gluing the neck on as you don't want to get dried glue on the mating surfaces or the glue won't stick to it as well as it will to wood.
Yes I will fill the neck pocket block thingy-ma-jig gaps with glue at the time I set the neck thanks to some good advice.

How many builds ago did you tell yourself that, Dedman? You’ve got an impressive number of impressive guitars to your name.
I do like the planning and the creative process, but they are just tools. Very nice tools and I keep coming up with ‘reasons’ (excuses?) to get more. I’m pretty sure I won’t build too many more.
Having seen the kit now I’ve decided on my choice of finish. Natural, red, olive green and black were all contenders, but red will be my choice. I am going to try this technique of applying dilute black stain and wiping/sanding off to highlight the grain and then stain with mahogany. Gloss wipe on poly for the body. All FW products because that is what I’ve previously used, is readily available and I have been happy with the results.
