    Garage sale!

Didn’t know where to post this and here seems as relevant as anywhere.
Picked this up at a garage sale on the next block down my street...for the kids.
It was out of tune all over the place so I was shortening the strings, filing down the nut, and when I pulled out the bridge, “What is this?”. It’s got a piezo pickup under the bridge. So, a little taste of what’s to come.
Oh yeah, it’s even got a maple neck.

    Reinforcements have arrived!

Back in business. The neck has arrived, nice and straight out of the box. On my previous two set necks I’ve found the neck angle to be too shallow for a floating bridge resulting in me having to modify bridges to fit. The angle of this neck appears to be better, but something I’ll have to get spot on this time if I’m to use the roller bridge. I’m also changing the headstock to a simpler shape which I think will look better and be more in keeping with the guitars overall mojo.
I’ll be back after catching up to where I previously was with a new and improved neck.

Yeah, the finish on the body is really gorgeous - puts my efforts to shame!

Thanks folks, but I’m far from putting anyone to shame here. It should polish up well though. Third time around and the experience helps getting flatter level coats on.

If anyone has glued on a veneer you might of found it can be tricky to clamp it down without it slipping all over the place. As I’m using the full width of the veneer I have no room for error. I’ve routed a hole, sat some maple veneer into the hole sitting just proud of the surface, a drop of super glue on top and sit the rosewood veneer in place. Sand down the maple veneer so the rosewood veneer sits flat.

Nice and slow this time. After one and a half days sanding I’ve caught up to where I was back in April.

Thanks Drew. I’ve done a better job of it all round which makes me feel better about stuffing up the first time.
